What's Been Happening?
4th September 2016 - Are you on the Electoral Roll?
You may not be eligible to vote in elections and referendums today - to do so in Britain, you have to be 18 years old.
However, the day will come! And to register to vote, you have to be on something called the Electoral Roll
Each eligible gets one vote in UK elections. The Electoral Roll is the way that the Government makes sure it really is only one vote each, so no one can vote multiple times.
Every house in the area was recently sent in the post a form by the Council checking that they have the right details for everyone living there, and who has registered to vote. If you need to register to vote but didn't do it then, you will need to register individually at Gov.UK - Register to Vote to appear on the electoral register, or ask the Council to send you a personalised registration form.
A commitment to Democracy is one of the fundamental British Values we promote at HRC.
